The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox
and the Horse

Author: Charlie Mackesy

Illustrator: Charlie Mackesy

Age recommendation: 10+

My rating: 5/5

Favourite character: The Mole.

Comments: A touching, beautiful pocket of a tale that can really touch your heart. This is a wonderful guide on how to be kind to yourself and others and to face everything courageously. A book of life's ups and downs but as the Horse says, 'We all have a reason to keep going.'

Main characters: The Boy, the Mole the Fox, the Horse.

Synopsis: The boy is lonely but curious and wants to get home. He asks the others questions about life and they answer him encouragingly. The mole loves cake and is full of knowledge. The fox doesn't talk much but takes everything in. The horse is wise and the horse has a secret...

Review: This book is simply a winner. It has helped me in so many ways. To me each character represents how we feel in life. The boy: curiosity and fear. The mole: love. The fox thoughtfulness and hurt. The horse strength and self-consciousness. I think Charlie Mackesy is trying to portray this in a particular way that can help people. Through a book. And it works.
