Comments: A humorous Walliams classic, set in the war world of 1940. Built up around an animal-human friendship, this book shows plainly that love can always console in any bomb-stained Blitz.

Synopsis: Orphaned by the war, young Eric Grout spends most of his time at London Zoo with the beloved Gorilla, Gertrude. The Blitz of London is well underway, and it is not going down well with the animals. When Gertrude's life is threatened the three decide to take refuge in the seaside town of Bognor Regis. However, is the seemingly deserted hotel of Seaview Towers covering something infinitely evil?....

Review: I like the sinister twist on Uncle Sid's childhood holiday hotel. They can almost put the war and bombs of London behind them. This empty, gothic hotel is unnerving them, just slightly...
