Favourite character: Boy (Roald Dahl)

Comments: An astounding autobiography of author Roald Dahl's childhood. Gory, exciting tales of growing up. From age 2 to 20 you see the world through a schoolboy's eyes. It is an insight into a brutal time, not for younger readers. Introducing the cane and various other subjects, I have therefore recommended 9+. For children this is an immediate winner, but not to mention adults too!

Main characters: Boy (Roald Dahl).

Synopsis: From Dahl's experiences at school to family holidays in Norway to testing new Cadbury chocolates, this book is full of the impossible. All his endeavors linking in to his love of stories. This is a breathtaking autobiography and I believe it is one of the most engaging I have ever read!

Review: I absolutely love Roald Dahl's flowing way of writing. He can pack action into a book and it will still feel like gentle and calm. He reaches out to people, particularly in this book, takes them by the hand  and sails you on a sea of real-life adventure. This book feels like a one-to-one chat in a cafe over tea and cake. Dahl is a wonder!
