The Butterfly Club

The Butterfly Club

Author: Jacqueline Wilson

Illustrator: Nick Sharratt

Pagination: 372

Year First Published: 2015

Age Recommendation: 7+

My rating: 3/5

Favourite character: Tina

Comments: This is a creative book that shows how hard times in life are softened by the nature's beauty.  This book has made me look at butterflies in an entirely different way. It portrays a young girl shielded from the world by her sisters, who finds her place in amongst the butterflies.

Main characters: Tina, Selma, Phil, Maddie.

Synopsis: Tina has always shrunk away from the world. She is a triplet, yet has always been smaller than her sisters Phil and Maddie. But can she learn to fly alone? Selma Johnson, her worst enemy, who bullies her, gets partnered up with Tina to make a Butterfly garden. Can the butterflies bring this unlikely pair together?

Review: Sometimes I wonder how authors manage to surprise us every time we open a book, or even just simply turn a page! Its an incredible talent to have been gifted. I enjoyed the way Jacqueline Wilson gives us a read full of challenges and difficulties but it is still a beautiful and heart-warming volume!
